The application timeline
Hope this helps anyone anxious about the application process.
UNSW
Late October, 2014: UNSW exchange application due
- Submit it early, because the Endeavour system goes down due to high demand when the deadline looms
- You can’t take mandatory core commerce courses on exchange, but flexible cores are okay1
- Note some universities force you to complete at least half your course load in a single ‘home’ faculty (not CUHK, because your faculty is IASP, which means you’re an exchange student)
Mid December: nominations emailed to you and acceptance forms to be filled
Late January, 2015: OS-HELP applications available
May: OS-HELP money arrived
September: UNSW scholarship receipients notified around end of 1st week, paid around the end of the month
CUHK
Early January, 2015: first correspondence about the application process
Early March: online application opens
June:
- CUHK admission letter arrives around 3rd week, forms to fill
- Around 4th week, email arrives saying visa application has been forwarded to immigration department (expect to wait 6 weeks)
Late July:
- Course pre-selection
- Student visa FedExed to me
- University enrollment online (not the courses)
- College hostel assigned
August: I lost track because so many things happened
September:
- Special add-drop for business courses in 1st week
- Normal add-drop period starts from 2nd to end of 3rd week
- Hostel fees due by end of the month

Management and Marketing approved MGMT1001 and MARK1012, though UNSW BS crossed them out before authorising my transfer of credit form. A couple of months later, I resubmitted without MGMT1001, and MARK1012 was approved. ↩
